St Mary’s Secondary School Nenagh

St Mary’s Secondary School Nenagh

Despite having to sit Christmas tests, there have been lots of things to enjoy inside and out of school for our students recently. St Mary’s welcomed 6th Class students from all primary schools in the area over a number of days. The primary school students enjoyed a range of activities; Science, Art, P.E., Dance, Technical Graphics and Home Economics and then were joined by their friends in First Year for lunch. This was a terrific opportunity for us to show case our school and everyone had a lot of fun!
Our Transition Years have been as busy as ever this week. They are currently doing Water Safety Training, preparing for two weeks of work experience, they visited the Pantomime “Robin Hood” in the Gaiety, Dublin and four students won a trip to Brussels! The mini-company groups are in full swing and many groups have had huge sales already of their products. Thanks to Bank of Ireland who had some of the groups display and sell their product in the bank last week.
Our Junior Soccer team had more success taking victory over Borrisokane with a score line of 5-1. This team is only in its infancy and already showing huge potential.

Many of our students each year receive entrance scholarships into 3rd level Institutions and this year was no exception. Julie Moynan received an entrance scholarship into NUI Galway where she is now studying Biomedical Engineering. Mary Grace received a scholarship for Dublin City University where she is studying Accountancy and Finance. Congratulations also to Maria Pachowicz who received an Entrance Exhibition Award in Trinity College. Maria is now studying Mathematics and Psychology in Trinity College. Maria also received the JP McManus scholarship. Everyone in St Mary’s is extremely proud of these girl’s achievements! This brings it to a total of 9 scholarships in 12 months for our students. Congratulations to all!
