3rd Year students from St Mary’s Secondary School visited the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS. This year the trip was even more exciting than usual as the girls were supporting Transition Year student, Laoise Robinson. Laoise’s project was entitled ‘Irish Attitude to Electric Cars’. It gained a lot of attention from the passing crowds, ministers and judges, being the only project on this topic. Laoise, under the guidance of Ms Conneely, produced an excellent project and we are very proud of her.

Congratulations to our Badminton teams for their tremendous performances in the County Badminton Championships. The U14 team, (Jean Daly, Sophie Hudson, Lynn Farrell, Anna O’Keeffe and Caoimhe Taplin), U16 team, (Emily Griffin, Grace Flemming, Katie O’Meara and Fiona Kirwan) and U19 team, (Alexa Banaghan, Sorcha McInerney, Niamh Byrne, Aisling Byrne and Caoimhe Costello) travelled to Thurles and played out of their skins! All teams reached the finals and while the U16 were beaten by the smallest of margins after a terrific game, the U14 and U19 teams qualified for the Munster Championships. Well done to all the girls and their teacher, Ms Maguire.
