The Transition Year curriculum is different from other years in its structure. The girls are given the opportunity to mature, develop self confidence as well as take a greater part in their own learning. They are encouraged to complete projects in different subject areas and work as part of a team in order to develop a greater overall knowledge of different subject areas. The students are encouraged to use their skills within their group in order to increase the overall learning of the group. The teachers in St. Mary\'s encourage the students to look outside the classroom walls and into the wider wall to increase their knowledge and appreciation for the different subject areas that are explored through Transition Year.
The curriculum for transition year is in two sections. The core curriculum is taken for the full year with extra modules taken throughout the year.
