Graphics for Junior Cycle is widely varied subject in which you will learn how to represent 3-D objects on paper and on computer and can become better aware of how graphic communication is all around us, in the print media, and on television.

Assessment Task
The Exam

This is worth 70% of overall marks. The exam is 2 hours long and taken at common level. Students must answer all the questions in the paper, there is no choice within it.

Classroom-Based Assessments

Students must complete 2 CBA's; CBA 1 is titled 'Communicating through Sketching' and CBA 2 is titled 'Graphical Presentation Skills'. For CBA 1, students must graphically communicate their ideas using 2D and 3D sketching techniques based on a theme. For CBA 2, students must research and investigate a topic and present their findings.

Project

Students must complete a project based on CBA 2. This is worth 30% of overall marks. Students will have to complete 3 outputs:

Output 1: Responding to a theme informed by the work of Classroom-Based Assessment 2
Output 2: Dimensioned drawings
Output 3: Three-dimensional computer-aided design modelling
