School Trip to Italy
Transition Year School tour to Italy.
Recently our TY students travelled to the scenic Lake Garda region
On Tuesday 8 th April we departed from Dublin to Milan where we met our
coaches and transferred to Sirmione.
We then took a scenic boat trip on the lake and afterwards had a leisurely
game of bowling. We arrived at our accommodation for a 3-night stay.
On the second day we transferred to Venice taking a private water taxi from
the Tronchetto to the centre of Venice for a walking tour of the city.
The guided tour included a historical and artistic outline of St. Mark’s
Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the bridge of Sighs.
We then visited the Vecchia Murano Glass Making Factory for an
interesting demonstration of the skills involved in this traditional craft.
On the third day we enjoyed the exhilarating, thrilling and exciting
Gardaland. With 6 roller coasters and a total of 32 rides we were spoilt for
choice.
On the fourth day we visited the Verona Arena. Originally built in 30 AD, it
is world famous for holding large scale opera shows and is one of the best
preserved ancient structures of its kind, we then enjoyed a visit to Juliet’s
House, where the famous balcony can be seen.
We then transferred to Il Centro shopping centre and enjoyed some
shopping time with more than 200 shops and 25 restaurants. in the centre,
is one of the largest in Italy.
We flew back to Dublin later that evening and returned to Nenagh after an
enjoyable fun filled trip.
