Senior Film Club
The Senior Film Club has been running since September 2018 and dedicates itself to exploring films that please, thrill, challenge, confuse, scare its film fanatic members. Friday lunchtimes is when the magic happens: anyone who loves films, watching them and talking about them, or even just listening to people talk about them, is always welcome. In that time, we have watched and discussed well over 100 films (some twice!) and have gone on multiple trips to the Birr film festival, the IFI Careen in Screen day, cinema trips as well as inviting professional filmmakers to talk to us in school about their experiences in the industry.
The film club is a democratic space where films are brought and shared and everyone has the opportunity to bring their favourite films. Mr Meally’s job is to deepen film education and bring unfamiliar films to the club, a vocation he loves, but no matter what the film or who brings it, the artform is celebrated by just watching films together in a darkened room with a big(ish) screen and loud sound. Anyone interested in attending our film club just needs to talk to Mr Meally, brandishing their favourite film and a justification.
